The Directorate of Environment, Urbanism and Climate Change conducted inspections to prevent pollution in Buyuksu stream passing through the city center, and determined that a white meat company in the Vakifgecitveren village area was discharging its wastewater into the stream without treating it. As a result, the company was fined 3 million 480 thousand liras for this violation, and a criminal complaint was filed against the company for “deliberate pollution of the environment”.

In previous inspections by the Directorate, the same company had been fined 1 million 160 thousand liras and 2 million 220 thousand liras for polluting the environment. Additionally, two other white meat companies and a potato factory found to be discharging their untreated wastewater into the Buyuksu Stream were also fined between 1 million 160 thousand and 3 million 480 thousand liras.

The inspections and fines are part of the efforts to prevent pollution in Buyuksu Stream, which plays a vital role in the local ecosystem. The Directorate is taking a strict stance against companies that disregard environmental regulations and continue to pollute the water sources. The fines serve as a deterrent to prevent further pollution and protect the environment for future generations.

The penalties imposed on the companies reflect the government’s commitment to enforcing environmental laws and holding polluters accountable for their actions. It is crucial for businesses to prioritize environmental sustainability and take measures to prevent pollution in order to ensure the well-being of the community and the ecosystem at large.

The Directorate’s actions send a strong message to companies that environmental violations will not be tolerated, and strict enforcement measures will be taken to ensure compliance with environmental regulations. It is essential for businesses to comply with environmental standards and invest in proper waste treatment facilities to avoid fines and legal consequences for polluting the environment.

By holding companies accountable for their environmental violations, the Directorate aims to raise awareness about the importance of environmental protection and encourage businesses to adopt sustainable practices. The fines imposed on the companies serve as a reminder of the responsibility that businesses have towards the environment and the communities they operate in, and highlight the significance of compliance with environmental regulations to safeguard natural resources and ecosystems.
