The Clippers have run out of excuses now that Kawhi Leonard is back with the team

The LA Clippers are facing a pivotal moment in the NBA playoffs, where they need to own their success or failure without any excuses. Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are healthy for the first time in the postseason since the NBA Bubble five years ago, with Leonard returning from a nine-game absence due to knee inflammation. This postseason is crucial for the Clippers as they look to reach their first NBA Finals in their 53-year history. While Leonard has already signed a three-year extension, George’s future with the team remains uncertain as he could become a free agent this summer. The Clippers have shown promise in the playoffs so far, winning Game 1 without Leonard and showing determination in Game 2 despite his return.

The Clippers have been unable to meet expectations in previous playoff runs, facing early exits and struggles with injuries. The addition of Leonard and George seemed to make the Clippers real title contenders, but they have not been able to capitalize on their potential. With Leonard missing significant time due to injury, the Clippers have faced challenges in previous postseasons. However, with everyone on the roster now healthy, there are no more excuses left for the team. The addition of Hall of Famers Russell Westbrook and James Harden adds to the expectations for the Clippers to perform better in the playoffs.

Coach Ty Lue acknowledges the importance of this postseason for the Clippers and believes that the team needs to accept the reality of their performance, whether they succeed or fail. Despite a tough loss in Game 2 against the Dallas Mavericks, the Clippers showed resilience and determination, refusing to give up even when faced with a significant deficit. Leonard, in particular, took responsibility for the loss and emphasized the need for the team to improve collectively. The Clippers will need to readjust quickly to having Leonard back on the court for Games 3 and 4 in Dallas.

The pressure is on for the LA Clippers to finally live up to their potential and deliver a deep playoff run. With a healthy roster and no more excuses to fall back on, the team must take ownership of their performance in the current postseason. The future of the franchise, including the status of Paul George, adds to the stakes for the Clippers in these playoffs. Whether they meet expectations or fall short, the Clippers will have no one to blame but themselves, as they strive to reach their first NBA Finals and prove their capabilities as a championship-caliber team.
