In coordination with the Directorate of Counter Terrorism (TEM) and the TEM and Intelligence Branch Directorates of the Şanlıurfa Provincial Gendarmerie Command, an operation was launched to detect, uncover, and capture the domestic and international activities of the terrorist organizations PKK/KCK-PYD/YPG.
As a result of the operation, 15 suspects, 11 of them Syrian nationals, were identified to be carrying out organizational activities on behalf of the terrorist organization, providing weapons and ammunition to the organization, and acting as couriers for the organization. In accordance with the information provided by the Şanlıurfa Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, simultaneous operations were carried out at identified addresses in Şanlıurfa, Hatay, Mersin, Istanbul, and Bursa to capture these suspects.
During the operation, suspects H.A, E.E, M.O, M.Ç, A.C, A.A, A.E.A.A, S.O, H.A, İ.E, H.A, H.E, and H.K. were detained. Efforts are ongoing to detain the other 2 suspects who are still at large.
A search in the suspects’ residences yielded 2 long-barreled weapons, 1 Mauser rifle, 1 handgun, 1 shotgun, 271 rounds of ammunition, 3 long-barreled weapon magazines, 1 handgun magazine, 1 walkie-talkie, and 30 digital materials.
The detained suspects will be further investigated for their involvement in the activities of the terrorist organization PKK/KCK-PYD/YPG and for any other possible connections with the organization. The successful operation is a part of the ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and ensure the safety and security of the region. The authorities continue to work diligently to prevent any terrorist activities in the area and bring perpetrators to justice.
