Devin Lammers, a seasoned leader in the agriculture technology industry, has recently been appointed as the new CEO of TerraClear, a startup focused on rock-mapping and picking technology. Lammers brings with him a wealth of experience from his previous executive roles at companies such as P4P Energy, ATDynamics, and EY-Parthenon. He most recently served as the interim CEO at Farmer’s Business Network. Lammers is taking over from Brent Frei, the founder of TerraClear, who established the company in 2017 with the aim of simplifying the process of removing large rocks from farmers’ fields.
TerraClear, headquartered in Issaquah, Wash., and Grangeville, Idaho, has been developing AI and machine learning technology to power its system that is currently utilized by more than 100 farming customers in the Midwest. Frei believes that the company is now ready for a go-to-market push, and he sees Lammers as the ideal candidate to lead this effort. Lammers, who has a background in agriculture and grew up on a family farm in South Dakota, was impressed by TerraClear’s technology and its potential to address the age-old challenge faced by farmers when it comes to clearing rocks from their fields.
Having visited Grangeville and witnessed the team and technology in action, Lammers was convinced of TerraClear’s capabilities and the value of its proposition for farmers. The startup recently secured a $15 million Series A funding round from investors including Madrona Venture Group. In a separate development, Trevor Thompson, the former president at TerraClear, departed the company in June and is now at San Francisco-based AI startup Scale AI. These changes in leadership reflect a broader trend of key personnel movements in the Pacific Northwest, with executives taking on new roles at various technology companies in the region.
Among the notable changes in the tech industry, Chris Polishuk joined Seattle-based marketing data startup Amperity as chief revenue officer, after previously serving in a similar role at SPINS and Lucidworks. Additionally, Sachin Jain, a former vice president at Amazon and Google, has been appointed as chief operating officer at cloud infrastructure company CoreWeave. Claire Fang, who previously held the position of chief product officer at Seattle startup SeekOut, is now the chief product and technology officer at behavioral data platform company Fullstory. Amir Moftakhar, previously the CFO at Underdog Capital and ESS, has taken on the role of CFO at Seattle clean energy startup Modern Hydrogen.
Further changes include Lila Tretikov, the former deputy chief technology officer at Microsoft who now heads AI strategy at NEA, joining the board of directors at Zendesk. Meanwhile, Stephanie Smith has been promoted to chief people officer at Seattle-area audience experience company Tagboard. These personnel changes reflect the dynamic nature of the tech industry in the Pacific Northwest, with experienced executives taking on new leadership roles and contributing to the growth and development of innovative technology startups in the region.
