The governor’s office announced that sympathizers of terrorist organizations and some groups may be preparing illegal demonstrations throughout the province to protest the trial related to the Kobani events on October 6-8, 2014.
The statement warned that public order and safety could be endangered by these actions and that an attempt to provoke social conflict could be made. The announcement stated: “In order to ensure peace and security within the borders of our province, the inviolability of individuals, the safety of public order, parks, gardens, main roads, NGOs and political party facilities, public and enclosed areas, open or enclosed public or closed area meetings, walks, press statements, hunger strikes, sit-in protests, setting up stands and tents, distributing leaflets, hanging banners, writing, and all activities such as demonstrations and events, as well as the entry into the city center of individuals and vehicles that may arrive for this purpose, are banned from Thursday, May 16 at 17.00 until Monday, May 20 at 23.59.”
The ban was imposed in accordance with the relevant articles of Law No. 5442 on Provincial Administration and Article 17 of Law No. 2911 on Meetings and Demonstrations.
This decision was made to ensure the maintenance of peace, order, and security within the city and to prevent any potential disruptions that could arise from these demonstrations.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation to prevent any illegal activities or disturbances during this period of the ban. Security measures have been increased throughout the province to maintain public safety and prevent any provocations that could lead to social conflict.
