Actor Steve Carell, known for his role in the hit series The Office, is set to star in a new comedy series set on a college campus for HBO/MAX. The half-hour show, created by Bill Lawrence and Matt Tarses, will feature Carell as an author with a complicated relationship with his daughter. The project was the subject of a bidding war before HBO ultimately signed on. Carell, along with Lawrence and Tarses, will serve as executive producers on the 10-episode series. The actor expressed excitement for the opportunity to work with Carell and praised HBO for their commitment to quality television.

In addition to his new project, Carell has also agreed to star in a Netflix series based on the 1981 comedy film, The Four Seasons, written and directed by Alan Alda. The series will follow three married couples who vacation together every year, with complications arising when one couple brings a new partner into the mix. Production on The Four Seasons is expected to begin later this year, with Alda serving as a producer on the project. Carell had previously announced that he would not be participating in a follow-up series to The Office, but expressed support for the new project and praised his former co-star Domhnall Gleeson, who will be headlining the series.

Carell’s decision to not participate in The Office follow-up series was met with disappointment from fans, but the actor explained that there was no reason for his character, Michael Scott, to appear in the new project. Instead, he is looking forward to watching the new series and supporting the talented cast, including Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore. The storyline of the follow-up series is set 10 years after the original show ended, focusing on a failing newspaper company. Carell expressed excitement for the new project and praised the concept, as well as the lead actors involved.

While Carell made a name for himself with his role in The Office, he has since broadened his career with a variety of projects, including animated films like Despicable Me 4 and collaborations with former co-stars like John Krasinski. Carell’s return to television in a college-campus comedy series marks a new chapter in his career and showcases his versatility as an actor. With a strong team behind the project and the support of HBO, Carell’s next TV venture is sure to captivate audiences and continue his legacy as a talented and beloved actor in the entertainment industry.
