Starling Marte sensed something in his knee prior to Mets sidelining

Starling Marte of the New York Mets was scratched from a game due to a knee issue, although the team was not overly concerned. Marte reported feeling something in his right knee during the seventh inning of a game but was later penciled back into the lineup by manager Carlos Mendoza. However, Marte revealed that he was still feeling discomfort, prompting Mendoza to take him out of the lineup and send him for treatment. Tyrone Taylor replaced Marte in right field and had a solid performance in Marte’s absence.

The loss of Marte’s bat was felt by the Mets, as he had been performing well in recent games with multiple hits, walks, and RBIs. Meanwhile, Francisco Alvarez, a rehabbing catcher with High-A Brooklyn, is set to join Triple-A Syracuse for a series of games before potentially making a return to the major leagues. Alvarez had a notable performance with Brooklyn, catching a combined no-hitter and impressing his coaches and teammates with his energy and communication skills during the game.

Edwin Diaz, who is recovering from a right shoulder impingement, reported feeling good after a bullpen session and is expected to pitch an inning with High-A Brooklyn soon. The Mets made roster moves, including adding catcher Joe Hudson to the 40-man roster for potential activation as an extra player during a game in London. In addition, right-handed pitchers Cole Sulser and Brett Baty will also be joining the team for the London series as contingency options in case of injuries or other needs.

Omar Narvaez and Jorge Lopez, who were recently designated for assignment by the Mets, have been released from the team. Meanwhile, righty Shintaro Fujinami has been transferred to the 60-day injured list due to a right shoulder strain. The Mets are making adjustments to their roster and preparing for upcoming games, including a series in London where they will have the opportunity to bring an extra player and have additional pitching options available in case of injuries.

Overall, the Mets are dealing with various player injuries and roster adjustments as they navigate the season. The team is monitoring the health of star players like Starling Marte and Edwin Diaz, while also providing opportunities for rehabbing players like Francisco Alvarez to progress towards a potential major league return. With additional roster moves and preparations for upcoming games, the Mets are working to maintain their competitiveness and make the most of their available resources for success on the field.
