Spencer Matthews, a former star of the reality TV show Made in Chelsea, recently opened up about the anxiety and stress he experienced while on the show. In a podcast interview, he revealed that he had a love-hate relationship with the show and often felt uncertain and anxious due to the unpredictable nature of filming. He explained that the producers would sometimes set up situations that would trip up the cast members and cause tension among them. Despite having fond memories of his time on the show, Spencer ultimately made the decision to leave, which he believes was the right choice for his mental health.

Speaking about his departure from Made in Chelsea, Spencer shared that he reached a point where he woke up one morning and decided he was done with the show. He acknowledged that while there were many enjoyable moments and experiences during his time on the series, there were also challenging and stressful times. Spencer emphasized the importance of having thick skin and resilience in dealing with the negative aspects of being in the public eye. He noted that some of his co-stars struggled with the pressures of the show, with some even crying themselves to sleep as a result of the criticism they faced.

Since leaving Made in Chelsea in 2015, Spencer has gone on to have a successful career as a presenter and podcaster. He married Irish model Vogue Williams in 2018, and the couple now have three children together. In addition to his family life, Spencer has also ventured into entrepreneurship, founding a non-alcoholic spirits company called CleanCo. He has launched multiple podcasts, including Big Fish and co-hosting Spencer & Vogue with his wife. He also collaborates with his former Made in Chelsea co-star Jamie Laing on the podcast 6 Degrees of Separation.

Reflecting on his time on Made in Chelsea, Spencer expressed gratitude for the opportunities and experiences the show provided him. He acknowledged that while there were positive aspects to being on the show, there were also challenges and negative portrayals that led to online abuse and criticism from viewers. Despite these difficulties, Spencer credits his thick skin and resilience for helping him navigate the ups and downs of fame. He also expressed empathy for his former co-stars who struggled with the pressures of the show and the impact it had on their mental health.

Overall, Spencer’s candid reflections on his time on Made in Chelsea shed light on the behind-the-scenes realities of reality TV and the toll it can take on cast members. His honesty about his struggles with anxiety and the challenges of being in the public eye provide insight into the complexities of fame and the importance of mental health. Through his successful career post-Made in Chelsea, Spencer has shown resilience and determination in pursuing new opportunities and finding fulfillment outside of the reality TV world. His story serves as a reminder of the importance of self-care and prioritizing mental well-being in the face of external pressures and expectations.
