Bundesarbeitsminister Hubertus Heil, a member of the Social Democratic Party (SPD), criticized the Alternative for Germany (AfD) during a rally organized by the German Trade Union Confederation in Dresden on Labor Day. He accused the AfD of trying to divide society by exploiting people’s fears without offering solutions. He stated that the AfD is not an alternative for Germany, but rather a nightmare for the country.

Heil emphasized that the AfD’s program for the upcoming European Parliament elections ultimately aims to lead Germany out of the European Union. He stressed the importance of the European Union as not only a peace project but also a foundation for prosperity. He warned against allowing right-wing radicals to destroy Europe and urged people to take a stand against them. He also highlighted the AfD’s focus on using the issue of migration to divide society, emphasizing Germany’s humanitarian obligation to help those fleeing war and persecution.

In addition to addressing the issue of migration, Heil called for a more organized and qualified approach to immigration to Germany in order to attract skilled individuals. He pointed out that people will be reluctant to come to Germany if they fear racist attacks or discrimination. He stressed the importance of unity in society and giving everyone the opportunity to be part of it, highlighting the need for democrats to stand together against division.

Heil’s speech echoed the sentiment that the AfD’s divisive tactics and fear-mongering are damaging to Germany and its values. He underlined the need for solidarity and cooperation in solving issues such as migration and immigration. He also emphasized the importance of speaking out against hate and discrimination, calling on people to come together as a united society. He warned against the dangers of allowing right-wing extremist ideologies to gain influence and urged people to actively resist such movements.

The rally in Dresden served as a platform for Heil to express his strong opposition to the AfD’s agenda and tactics. He highlighted the importance of defending European values and preventing the rise of radical and discriminatory ideologies. His speech resonated with the audience and emphasized the urgency of standing up to divisive and harmful rhetoric in order to protect and preserve the unity and integrity of German society.

Overall, Heil’s address at the DGB rally on Labor Day in Dresden showcased his commitment to combating the spread of hatred and division perpetuated by the AfD. He emphasized the need for unity, solidarity, and empathy in addressing issues such as migration and immigration. His words served as a rallying cry for individuals to come together to protect the values of democracy and equality against the threat posed by Far-Right extremism.
