Country music superstar Morgan Wallen was allegedly caught on video throwing a chair off the roof of a Nashville bar towards police officers, leading to his arrest on charges of reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct. The incident reportedly occurred after Wallen’s ex-fiancée Katie ‘KT’ Smith eloped with Luke Scornavacco just five days after they got engaged. Wallen was seen laughing after throwing the chair from the rooftop bar and was booked shortly after midnight. His bond was set at $15,250, and he was released from Davidson County jail early in the morning. Wallen’s mugshot showed him grinning despite the charges against him, which included three counts of felony reckless endangerment.
Sources close to Wallen revealed that he was upset by Smith’s quick marriage to Scornavacco, as the two had ended their engagement before welcoming a child together the previous year. Wallen had proposed to Smith after dating on and off from 2016 to 2019, and they shared a son named Indigo. Smith and Scornavacco announced their marriage on social media, with Smith holding up a marriage certificate, and it is believed that the news hit Wallen hard, given his lingering feelings for his ex and the fact that another man is now raising his son.
The incident at Chiefs Bar, which is owned by fellow country artist Eric Church, occurred during the bar’s grand opening weekend. Wallen’s attorney released a statement confirming the charges of reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct, stating that Wallen is cooperating with authorities. Wallen is scheduled to appear in court in May, between performances at the Nissan Stadium as part of his ‘One Night at a Time’ Tour. If convicted of the felony charges, Wallen could face up to 15 years in jail. This is not Wallen’s first run-in with the law, as he was previously arrested for disorderly conduct and public intoxication in Nashville in 2020, and for DUI in 2016.
