During an internal investigation, it was revealed that the detective who arrested Scheffler, Bryan Gillis, failed to turn on his body camera, which is a violation of LMPD policy. As a result, Det. Gillis received corrective action for this policy violation. Louisville Police Chief Jacquelyn Gwinn-Villaroel emphasized the importance of body-worn cameras for maintaining the community’s trust and transparency within the police department. Scheffler’s arraignment date was postponed to June 3 due to a scheduling conflict for his lawyer. However, reports suggest that all charges against Scheffler may be dropped.
