Ilaria Salis, an Italian activist currently detained in Hungary, may be released from prison on May 23. Her lawyer, Gyorgy Magyar, has stated that he has been informed by her father, Roberto, that the requested bail amount has been sent by an Italian bank. Due to Hungarian banks being closed until the following Tuesday for the Pentecost holiday, the transfer will arrive in Magyar’s account on Tuesday or Wednesday. According to the law, only the lawyer can make the payment to the court, upon receiving the sum, the court will immediately order the execution of house arrest.

A step closer towards the release of Ilaria Salis is the transition to house arrest in Budapest, as decided last Wednesday. This progress raises hopes for her potential return to Italy, where the 39-year-old Milanese woman is a candidate in the upcoming European elections with Avs. Roberto Salis has expressed concerns for his daughter’s safety upon her release and has urged journalists not to show up at the prison where she is detained. He emphasized the need for discretion and security for Ilaria and those close to her. Ilaria Salis is currently held at the Gyorskocsi Utca prison in Budapest.

The statements made by Maurizio Gasparri, the leader of the Forza Italia political group in the Senate, have sparked controversy. Gasparri criticized the left for focusing more on Ilaria Salis’ case than on the security of cities. He suggested that if Ilaria’s father had raised her better, there would be one less problem to deal with today. Gasparri’s comments were made during an electoral event in Florence, where he highlighted a perceived agenda being pushed by the left.

The anticipation for Ilaria Salis’ release continues to grow, with her lawyer expecting the bail payment to be processed by next week. The move to house arrest in Budapest marks an essential step towards her potential return to Italy, where she is a candidate in the upcoming European elections. Roberto Salis has expressed concerns for his daughter’s safety upon her release, urging journalists to respect their privacy and ensure security. Maurizio Gasparri’s comments about the situation have fueled further debate and criticism from various political perspectives.

Overall, the situation surrounding Ilaria Salis’ detention in Hungary has garnered attention and debate, as various actors express their concerns and opinions on the matter. The imminent release of Salis, pending the processing of the bail payment, is seen as a significant development in her case. As she awaits further legal proceedings and a potential return to Italy, the focus remains on her safety and security during this transitional period. The conflicting viewpoints and statements made by individuals involved in the situation continue to fuel discussions about the broader political and social implications of Salis’ detention.
