The New Orleans Saints have pledged to donate $1 million to relief efforts for the victims of the terror attack in the French Quarter on New Year’s Day. Fourteen people were killed and dozens were injured when a man drove along Bourbon Street in a white pickup truck with an ISIS flag at dangerous speeds. The French Quarter is less than two miles away from Caesars Superdome, where the Saints play their home games. Saints owner Gayle Benson expressed her condolences, stating that the community has experienced an unimaginable tragedy, and their hearts are broken as they mourn for the victims and survivors. The team stands united against all forms of hatred and is committed to providing aid quickly and effectively with the help of the Greater New Orleans Foundation and United Way.

In light of the terror attack, the Sugar Bowl, which was to be played at the Saints’ stadium, was postponed a day. Despite heightened security measures, fans packed the stadium for the game, with chants of “USA!” ringing out after a moment of silence for the victims. The Saints played their final home game of the season on December 29 and will finish the season in Tampa Bay against the Buccaneers. The team remains committed to supporting the community and spreading love, compassion, and kindness in the face of fear and terror. The collaboration with local organizations will ensure that the donated funds reach those who need them most.
