Russia escalated its aggression against Ukraine by carrying out a series of devastating attacks, including bombing a residential building in Kharkiv which resulted in three deaths and almost 30 injuries. Frontline clashes were reported in the Donetsk region near the towns of Pokrovsk and Toretsk, where Russia has been increasing its offensive actions by deploying significant forces. Five civilians were killed in the Donetsk region by Russian shelling, while in the Kherson region, a policeman was killed by a drone attack. Separatist-controlled areas in Donetsk and Horlivka came under heavy attack from Ukraine, resulting in multiple casualties. In the Belgorod region of Russia, a man was killed in the shelling near the border with Ukraine’s Kharkiv.
Regional Governor Oleh Syniehubov reported that two children had been hospitalized and civilian infrastructure was damaged in Kharkiv due to the Russian attacks. Despite efforts to target civilian areas, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov reported that Russia had dropped almost 10,000 guided bombs on Ukraine this year alone. Zelensky emphasized the need for strong decisions from international partners to combat Russian terrorism and protect Ukrainian civilians. The continued attacks on energy infrastructure have left Ukraine vulnerable and reliant on external sources for essential supplies, further escalating the humanitarian crisis in the region.
