Russian Philosopher Dugin Criticizes Western Liberalism in Tucker Carlson Interview

American conservative pundit Tucker Carlson recently conducted an interview with Russian ideologue Alexander Dugin, who criticized Western liberal ideas and warned about the loss of human identity. Dugin argued that liberalism promotes individualism to the extent that people no longer have any collective identity, leading to the embrace of LGBTQ+ lifestyles and new forms of sexual individualism. Dugin is known for his support of Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine and President Putin’s policies promoting traditional values, although he has no official ties to the Kremlin and his influence on Putin is debated.

Dugin believes that the progression of liberalism will ultimately result in human beings being able to choose if they want to identify as human or not, leading towards transhumanism, post-humanism, singularity, and artificial intelligence. He views Putin as a traditional leader who opposes the global progressivist agenda and defends traditional values, which has led to Western progressive observers having a strong disdain towards him. Carlson claimed during the interview that the Biden Administration banned Dugin’s books in the U.S. due to the dangerous nature of his ideas, though sanctions against the Russian philosopher in 2015 were related to his involvement in the Ukraine conflict, not his books.

The interview with Dugin was filmed in Moscow earlier this year, where Carlson highlighted the perceived threat of Dugin’s ideas being censored in the U.S. However, it is important to note that while Dugin was sanctioned in 2015, there are no bans on the publication or sale of his books in the United States. Dugin’s interview with Carlson follows similar episodes featuring Russian President Putin and tech entrepreneur Pavel Durov. In a tragic turn of events, Dugin’s daughter was killed in a car bomb attack in August 2022, which the Russian authorities attributed to Kyiv.

Dugin’s criticism of Western liberalism and advocacy for traditional values align with his support for Putin’s policies and the invasion of Ukraine. His views on individualism and the potential consequences of liberalism leading towards transhumanism and artificial intelligence paint a stark picture of the future he envisions. The interview sheds light on Dugin’s beliefs, his relationship with Putin, and his influence on Russian politics, despite his lack of official ties to the Kremlin. As Dugin continues to promote his ideas and engage with Western media, the debate over the implications of his philosophies and their impact on global politics will likely continue.
