Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has once again called for air-defense systems following Russian strikes that injured dozens of individuals across Ukraine. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that they had shot down 49 out of 116 Shahed-type drones launched by Russia overnight. Moscow also targeted Ukraine with ballistic and guided aerial missiles. Among the cities hit by Russian strikes were Kyiv, where attack drones were launched, resulting in one man sustaining facial burns, and the village of Novoplatonivka, where two elderly individuals were found dead under the rubble. In Sumy, one person was killed after overnight attacks caused blackouts in several settlements. In Zaporizhzhia, 14 people were injured and one person was killed in another attack.

In response to the intense attacks from Russia on the eastern front, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces revealed that Ukraine had destroyed a Russian air defense system just 60 kilometers from the front line. The Ukrainian general staff also claimed to have repelled 59 attacks in the Kurakhove sector in a single day. Russia is reportedly trying to storm the Selydove sector in the Donetsk Oblast, as indicated by Ukraine’s National Guard. President Zelenskyy took to social media to express the urgent need for additional air defense systems to defend against Russian forces. He highlighted the extensive use of missiles, guided aerial bombs, and strike drones by Russian forces against Ukraine.

According to local authorities, Russian strikes in various Ukrainian cities resulted in the deaths of at least four individuals and injuries to dozens more. In Kharkiv, Kryvyi Rih, Kherson, Donetsk, and other cities, reports indicated that at least 37 individuals were injured as a result of the attacks. The governor of Kharkiv, Oleh Syniehubov, reported that two elderly individuals were found dead in Novoplatonivka following Russian attacks, and one person was killed in Sumy after a critical infrastructure facility was hit, causing blackouts in multiple settlements. In Zaporizhzhia, 14 individuals were injured, and one person was killed in an attack, as confirmed by the governor Ivan Fedorov.

Despite the ongoing attacks from Russia, Ukraine has managed to defend against numerous assaults, including the destruction of a Russian air defense system near the front line. The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported success in repelling attacks in the Kurakhove sector, with a total of 59 attacks fended off in just a single day. As Russia continues to intensify its efforts, Ukraine’s National Guard stated that Russian forces are attempting to storm the Selydove sector in Donetsk Oblast. In response to the escalating situation, President Zelenskyy emphasized the critical need for additional air defense systems to safeguard against the significant arsenal of weapons being deployed by Russian forces.
