Rudy Giuliani Criticizes Indictment Service for Lack of Style

Rudy Giuliani, former lawyer to Donald Trump, criticized the manner in which he was served an indictment related to Arizona’s fake electors case, claiming it “wasn’t done stylishly.” The indictment was part of a case brought by Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes, accusing 18 allies of Trump of conspiring to overturn Joe Biden’s 2020 election victory in Arizona. The charges include conspiracy, fraud, and forgery, with Giuliani being served a notice of his indictment during his early 80th birthday celebration. Despite the unconventional delivery, Giuliani remained unfazed and celebrated his birthday with friends in Palm Beach, Florida.

Giuliani’s spokesperson, Ted Goodman, stated that the former New York City mayor was served the indictment after the party, remaining composed and enjoying the evening. Despite the casual approach to serving the indictment, Giuliani expressed displeasure at the lack of “style” in the delivery. The Arizona attorney general’s office had reportedly made several attempts to serve the summons to Giuliani, who is expected to appear before a judge on May 21. Giuliani took to social media to criticize Arizona authorities, claiming he had been posting his location for days, indicating their incompetence in locating him.

In the aftermath of Trump’s election loss to Biden, both Trump and Giuliani propagated baseless claims of widespread voter fraud leading to Trump’s defeat. The Arizona indictment alleges that Giuliani, along with other defendants, conspired to prevent the lawful transfer of power to Biden and keep Trump in office against the will of Arizona voters. The scheme would have undermined the rights of Arizona voters to have their votes counted, as per the indictment. In a similar case in Georgia, Trump, Giuliani, and other defendants were also indicted for allegedly conspiring to overturn the state’s 2020 election results, with both Trump and Giuliani pleading not guilty.

Giuliani’s actions following the indictment sparked controversy, with Mayes reposting Giuliani’s taunting post and asserting that “nobody is above the law.” The indictment accuses Giuliani and other defendants of engaging in a scheme to deprive Arizona voters of their right to vote and have their votes counted, aiming to keep Trump in office. The case highlights the ongoing legal battles surrounding the 2020 election and the efforts by Trump and his allies to challenge the election results through dubious means. As the legal proceedings continue, Giuliani and other defendants face charges of conspiracy, fraud, and forgery in connection to their alleged attempts to overturn the election results in Arizona.
