Carlos Rodon pitched a dominant game against the Brewers, allowing only two hits and one walk while striking out a season-high eight batters. His offense provided him with a 3-0 lead before he even took the mound, allowing him to attack hitters and cruise through the game. Rodon’s slider was particularly effective, contributing to seven of his eight strikeouts. This game marked another quality outing for Rodon as he continues to impress in his first season in New York with a 2.48 ERA across six games.

Jose Trevino made his first career pitching appearance in the ninth inning to protect a 14-run lead. While he gave up two runs, walked one, and allowed two hits, he managed to get three outs and showcased a knuckleball that impressed onlookers. Ian Hamilton was unavailable for Friday’s game due to general soreness, leading to Michael Tonkin being used as a reliever instead. Berti is set to begin a rehab assignment, while LeMahieu is still recovering from a non-displaced foot fracture.

Aaron Judge praised Rodon’s performance, noting that it typically takes time for players to adjust to the New York market and atmosphere. However, Rodon has quickly settled in and looks comfortable in his role with the team. His ability to make adjustments and perform in big moments has made him a valuable asset to the Yankees. Despite giving up some runs, Trevino’s pitching appearance added a fun element to the game, with his knuckleball receiving positive feedback from his teammates.

Rodon’s success on the mound can be attributed to his ability to mix up his pitches and keep hitters off balance. He has shown versatility in his approach, utilizing different pitches depending on the situation and adjusting as needed throughout the game. His performance against a strong hitting team like the Brewers is a testament to his skill and effectiveness as a pitcher. The team is excited to have him on board and expects him to play a significant role in the season ahead.

Hamilton’s absence in Friday’s game due to soreness highlighted the importance of having a reliable bullpen. With limited options available, the Yankees had to make adjustments and use different pitchers to finish the game. Despite this, the team managed to show resilience and compete until the end. It is essential for the team to have all players healthy and ready to contribute in order to maintain their competitive edge throughout the season. As players like Berti and LeMahieu work towards returning from injury, the team must find ways to navigate challenges and continue performing at a high level.
