Riley Keough Alleges Fraud in Legal Battle Over Grandfather Elvis Presley’s Graceland Sale

Riley Keough, the granddaughter of Elvis Presley, is currently in a legal battle to keep Graceland, the famous rock ‘n’ roll landmark, in her family. This comes after a notice for the foreclosure sale of Graceland was made public, claiming that the overseeing company, Promenade Trust, owes $3.8 million to Naussany Investments and Private Lending. Keough filed a lawsuit claiming fraud against the company that put Graceland up for sale, and her lawyers have successfully obtained a temporary restraining order to delay the public auction initially scheduled for May 23.

Having inherited the Promenade Trust after her mother, Lisa Marie Presley, passed away in January 2023, Keough is now taking on a larger responsibility in keeping her family’s legacy intact. She alleges in her lawsuit that the lender’s documents are fraudulent, stating that Lisa Marie never borrowed money from Naussany Investments. A hearing has been scheduled in Memphis’ Chancery Court to address this issue. Keough has also announced plans to release her mom’s memoir posthumously in October, as she believes few people had the opportunity to truly know who her mother was and hopes to share her in an honest and vulnerable way.

Riley Keough had to step up as the sole trustee of her mother’s estate after Lisa Marie’s passing, following a brief legal battle with her grandmother Priscilla Presley who initially contested her daughter’s will. The settlement included naming Riley’s younger sisters as sub-trustees and giving Priscilla a $1 million lump sum payment. Keough, who recently starred in the TV series Daisy Jones & The Six, has taken on the responsibility of preserving her family’s legacy and ensuring that Graceland remains in their possession.

Lisa Marie Presley had four children, including Riley whom she shared with ex-husband Danny Keough, as well as twin daughters with ex-husband Michael Lockwood. Riley has had to navigate the legal complexities and responsibilities that have come with inheriting the estate and taking on the role of trustee. Despite the challenges, she is determined to honor her mother’s memory and share her story in a way that allows readers to see Lisa Marie in her most vulnerable and honest light.

In light of the foreclosure sale threat to Graceland and the legal battles surrounding Lisa Marie Presley’s estate, Riley Keough remains committed to fighting for her family’s legacy. The temporary restraining order has provided a reprieve from the public auction, allowing more time to address the fraudulent claims and hopefully secure the future of Graceland within the family. Keough’s determination and efforts to protect her family’s heritage showcase her dedication to preserving the memory of her beloved mother and the iconic landmark associated with her grandfather, Elvis Presley.
