The premiere of George Clooney’s Broadway play brought out dozens of stars, but one was noticeably absent: Amal Clooney.
The actor shared that his wife could not attend Thursday’s opening of “Good Night, and Good Luck” because she was taking care of their 7-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella.
As he walked the red carpet solo, George, 63, told reporters that Amal, 47, was “with the kids,” according to People.
The Oscar winner, who married the human rights lawyer in 2014, wore a classic black tuxedo with a black bow tie at the Winter Garden Theatre in New York City, sporting darker hair that he dyed for the show.
The play is a theatrical adaptation of 2005 movie of the same name, which George starred in, directed and co-wrote.
He appears in the Broadway show alongside Ilana Glazer, Glenn Fleshler and Clark Gregg, among others.
While Amal was not able to make it, celebrities including Jennifer Lopez, Cindy Crawford and daughter Kaia Gerber, Uma Thurman, Pierce Brosnan and Kylie Minogue were all in attendance.
The Oscar winner’s new role led to a new lifestyle change for both him and his family, since they recently moved to New York City to support him during the show’s run.
“They love being here,” Clooney said of his family on a February episode of the “Late Show With Stephen Colbert” in February. “I mean, come on, how do you not love this? It’s New York City.”
Clooney added that his time working in the play –– which runs through June 8 –– will be a “good schedule” for the kids.
“Actually, a play is kind of a good schedule because you’re working at night,” he explained. “You get to see the kids during the day, so it’s OK.”
The “Michael Clayton” actor and the human rights lawyer have homes all over the world –– including Lake Como, Italy, and Provence, France.
