President-elect Donald Trump said the general public must now refer to Mel Gibson, Sylvester Stallone, and Jon Voight as “Mr. Ambassador” after he tapped the actor trio to help boost business in “troubled” Hollywood.
Trump, 78, touched on his decision to appoint the Tinseltown legends during his “Make America Great Again Victory Rally” in Washington, D.C., on Sunday.
The rally took place just one day before Trump’s official inauguration.
“Also with us tonight is a great actor, tremendously talented guy, Jon Voight, who’s great, and a friend mine,” he said during his hour-long address.
“And Sylvester Stallone is here — great guy. And you know I got Mel Gibson, Sylvester Stallone, and Jon Voight to become ambassadors to Hollywood, Calif., to put it back on track. So they’re all ambassadors. You have to refer to them as ambassadors, ‘Mr. Ambassador.’”
In the hours leading up to Trump’s speech, Voight made an appearance onstage at the rally and praised the incoming president’s vision of “making America great again.”
“We the people will honor our flag again,” Voight said, adding that the US will be “safe again” after Trump moves into the White House.
The “Midnight Cowboy” actor, 86, also called Trump’s victory as the “greatest win of all time — the victory we were all fighting for to save our country, our democracy.”
“I’m so grateful to say that Donald J. Trump is the 47th president of the United States,” he added.
Trump first announced his decision to tap his three long-time supporters as “Special Ambassadors to Hollywood” on Jan. 16 in a post on Truth Social.
“[They’ll be] Special Ambassadors to a great but very troubled place, Hollywood, California,” Trump wrote on the platform.
“They will serve as Special Envoys to me for the purpose of bringing Hollywood, which has lost much business over the last four years to Foreign Countries, BACK—BIGGER, BETTER, AND STRONGER THAN EVER BEFORE!”
“It will again be, like The United States of America itself, The Golden Age of Hollywood,” he added.
While it wasn’t immediately clear just what the trio will be doing in their newly-appointed roles, Trump said they would be his “eyes and ears” in the movie industry, “and I will get done what they suggest.”
Stallone, Gibson and Voight have all been outspoken Trump supporters, with the “Rambo” actor even going as far as calling the incoming president the “second George Washington.”
Gibson, for his part, ripped Trump’s competitor, Vice President Kamala Harris, during the election cycle, saying she has the “IQ of a fence post.”
The trio’s right-leaning stance is unlike the majority of Hollywood celebrities, who overwhelmingly supported Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election.
It’s unclear if they will attend Trump’s inauguration in Washington, DC Monday.
