Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department has topped the Billboard 200 album chart once again.
The pop star’s 11th studio album, first released on April 19, had its best sales since its second week of release after Target exclusively released a physical edition of the TTPD: The Anthology deluxe album over Thanksgiving weekend. The expanded edition scored 405,000 equivalent album units in the week ending December 5, per a Billboard report on Sunday, December 8.
Those numbers give TTPD its best week of sales since its second week when it scored 439,000 equivalent album units. Of course, the album debuted atop the Billboard 200 back in April, with a total of 2.61 million units (1.914 million traditional copies and 891.34 million on-demand streams) tallied across all platforms in its first week of release.
TTPD’s return to the top of the summit marks its 16th nonconsecutive week at No. 1 and makes it the third longest-charting No. 1 by a woman. Only Adele’s 21 (24 weeks) and The Bodyguard (20 weeks) soundtrack performed by Whitney Houston have spent more weeks at the top.

The chart-topping album has been buoyed by the success of Swift’s record-breaking Eras Tour, which came to a conclusion on Sunday at BC Place in Vancouver after nearly two years. The tour began in March 2023 and has spanned five continents and 149 shows.
During Sunday’s final performance, Swift, 34, thanked fans for “being a part of the most thrilling chapter of my life to date — my beloved Eras Tour.”

Her management team said via X, “To all the fans who took part in experiencing the joy that #TSTheErasTour has brought us over the past two years. We saw you spend hours designing your costumes, trading friendship bracelets, singing and dancing nonstop to the entire setlist, spreading love to everyone, and welcoming each city into our shared traditions.”

“While the tour has come to an end, your smiles, tears, and friendships will last a lifetime. Remember to hold on to the memories — they will hold on to you. 🫶,” the post concluded.

Swift’s collaboration with Target over Thanksgiving also scored her huge book sales. The star’s The Eras Tour Book, also released on November 29, sold nearly 1 million copies in its first week of sale. That makes it the biggest book launch of 2024 so far.
“We knew the release of Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour Book and The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology would be a huge, huge moment for Target shoppers and Taylor Swift fans everywhere, but seeing the record-breaking response unfold over the last week has been an absolute thrill,” Rick Gomez, the executive vice president and chief commercial officer at Target, said in a press release on Friday, December 6. “I’m incredibly proud of Target’s partnership with Taylor and the way our teams worked together to make this year’s Black Friday and Cyber Week unforgettable for so many people.”
