It’s no secret that Shep Rose wasn’t at his best at last year’s BravoCon. At the Southern Charm Season 9 reunion, Rose admitted to his cast mates that he was “at a crossroads” in his life after the 3-day event in Las Vegas. “I was out of control, drunk…I was blacked out,” confessed Rose. “I can’t even tell you what happened [at BravoCon].”
Even though Rose may have been out of it at BravoCon 2023, he still managed to be engaging on panels and kind to fans. During a Bravoverse Live Stage, Rose shared his hilarious story about getting “buffered” after a Foo Fighters concert in London by the one and only Taylor Swift. “I went to Vanderbilt Business School [in Tennessee] and had actually run into Taylor Swift in Nashville when she was a baby,” recounted Rose to the crowd.
After striking up a conversation with the singer and her then-boyfriend Joe Alywn about their old stomping grounds, Rose “turned to talk to other people.” When he tried to go back to chatting with Swift, a man was sitting in her place. Rose then shared that Swift allegedly hires people “to sit in between her and someone who is annoying her.”
At Bravo Fan Fest in Miami, Decider asked a chipper and much clearer Rose if he had gotten to see his old pal Swift who once buffered him during her Eras Tour. Did I tell it?” When we replied that he told it at BravoCon last year, Rose smiled sheepishly. “Yeah, yeah, I remember,” lied Rose, laughing.
“I did not go to the Eras Tour, but my nieces went with my sister,” said Rose. Rose then took the opportunity to address the incident with Swift. “Taylor is great, by the way,” began Rose. “She was very nice to me, [but] I think she has someone who is like, ‘okay, you’ve had your time with her.’” Rose insisted that one of Swift’s team members “politely” switched seats with her.
Upon further reflection, Rose looked back on his moment with Swift fondly. “You know when you feel awkward about a celebrity encounter for the rest of your frickin’ life?”asked Rose. “I don’t feel that way [with Taylor], I’m happy to report.” Now that Rose has entered a new era in his own life, he’s only looking forward.
