Russian forces launched attacks against 11 of Ukraine’s oblasts, resulting in the deaths of five people and injuries to at least 13 more. The attacks targeted various regions including Mykolaiv, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Sumy, and Zaporizhzhia. The strikes caused significant damage to residential buildings, industrial facilities, and critical infrastructure such as a thermal power plant. In response, Ukrainian defenses managed to down 16 out of 17 drones launched by Russia overnight, as well as a guided missile.

The attack on Mykolaiv on April 11 resulted in the deaths of five people and injuries to at least five more. The Governor of Mykolaiv reported that 20 residential buildings and several cars were damaged in the strike, which targeted an old industrial facility. In Donetsk Oblast, one civilian was injured in Russian attacks against Krasnohorivka. In Kharkiv Oblast, two men were injured in an attack against the Verkhnia Pysarivka village, while a 76-year-old man was wounded in a strike against Velyki Prokhody. In Luhansk Oblast, a police officer assisting residents was injured in a rocket attack against Makiivka.

In Sumy Oblast, two residents of the Vorozhba community were injured in Russian attacks, which also damaged a thermal power plant. A woman was injured in a Russian attack against the town of Huliaipole in Zaporizhzhia Oblast. Other regions that came under attack included Chernihiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, Vinnytsia, and Khmelnytskyi oblasts, although no casualties were reported in these areas. The attacks demonstrate the widespread nature of the conflict and the impact it is having on civilians and critical infrastructure.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Parliament passed a mobilization bill in the second reading as part of efforts to bolster its defenses against Russian aggression. The Mayor of Mykolaiv reported that the war has caused at least $2.9 billion in damages to the city. The ongoing conflict has resulted in significant economic losses and destruction of infrastructure, further highlighting the toll of the war on Ukraine. The large-scale attack launched by Russia on April 11 also targeted energy infrastructure, exacerbating the challenges faced by the country.

As the conflict continues to escalate, it is crucial to support independent journalism in Ukraine to provide accurate and timely information about the situation on the ground. Joining the fight to support independent journalism can help raise awareness about the impact of the war on civilians and provide much-needed information to the international community. The attacks launched by Russia underscore the importance of staying informed and supporting efforts to address the crisis in Ukraine. By coming together to support Ukraine and independent journalism, we can make a difference in the fight for peace and justice in the region.
