Summarize this content to 2000 words in 6 paragraphs Manchester United legend Roy Keane has been hailed after surprising longtime fan Pat O’Sullivan at hospital, responding to a radio plea from the 77-year-old’s family14:38, 05 Apr 2025Updated 14:38, 05 Apr 2025Roy Keane visited a fan struggling with dementia(Image: Instagram/@corksredfm)Roy Keane has been branded a “real gent” after paying a surprise visit to a lifelong fan who is battling dementia in hospital. The Manchester United legend visited 77-year-old Pat O’Sullivan at Mercy Hospital in Cork after his family made a plea on the radio.Keane was born in Cork and Pat is a huge fan of the former footballer, having once shared a pint with him in the local Templeacre pub. And Keane responded to the family’s plea by coming to see Pat and spent around 30 minutes with him and his family.”What an amazing thing for Roy to do,” Pat’s son Rob told the Sun. “My dad was absolutely delighted. My dad always talks about his friend Roy Keane.”He was so happy to meet him that he cried twice. Roy put his arm around him and shared a joke with him. He loved it.”In a separate interview with RedFM, Rob added: “Roy Keane walked into my dad’s room, face to face, and shook his hand. For him to come and visit, take time out of his schedule or his personal time to see my dad, sit with him, go back and forward with stories.READ MORE: Man Utd star Andre Onana’s wife ‘has 62k bag and Rolex stolen’ in horrifying ordealREAD MORE: Roy Keane leaves Gary Neville in stitches with brutal Man Utd jibe to Luke Littler”You have no idea, it still feels like a dream. When I looked at him face to face, I was in awe. I cannot believe he is right in front of me and about to make my dad’s dream come true.”Since we last spoke my dad’s speech has gone really bad. It was perfect because they were able to have a bit of a conversation, my dad looked at him, he was staring at him, and he just couldn’t believe his friend was sitting next to him.”Rob also branded the visit “incredible” in an interview with the Irish Examiner, stating: “My dad sees Roy as a real gent and a real straight talker who says it as it is. He stayed for a full 30 mins or so chatting to my dad, it was incredible.”Keane is known as one of football’s ultimate hardmen, but he has shown his softer side on occasion. Most recently, Keane was joined by his daughter Caragh on the Stick to Football podcast, brought to you by Sky Bet, where she opened up about their relationship.Keane’s visit was described as “incredible” by Pat’s son Rob(Image: 2025 Allstar)”He is the most supportive person but he definitely loves his routine,” Caragh said. “If that is off-kilter, we know about it! Like if there’s a delivery coming that he is not aware of, oh my, the poor Amazon delivery man!”Keane then chimed in: “You would not believe how much we get delivered to the house!” Caragh continued: “No but he is great. You have your funny moments, don’t you. It’s so good.”Keane is also supporting Caragh’s new business, a health food company called Superkeen which was set up after she was diagnosed with Lupus. “When you started you asked me to support you, I said ‘Yeah go for it girl’,” Keane said.”Then we set up a business meeting… ‘Can I have some money daddy?’ That was all the business meeting! Really short! I said yeah, take it, whatever you need. It was more than what I thought to get a company up and running, it’s been hard work, the ups and downs.”Join our new MAN UTD WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Manchester United content from Mirror Football.
