Pornhub is ending its tawdry services in Florida on Jan. 1, in a protest of the state’s new age-verification law.
Gutter-minded internet users with Florida IP addresses were presented with a special pop-up announcement on Tuesday that laid out the porn website’s plans to yank its content from the Sunshine state.
“YOU WILL LOSE ACCESS TO PORNHUB IN 14 DAYS,” the banner of the alert read.
“Did you know that your government wants you to give your driver’s license before you can access PORNHUB?,” the smut sellers wrote in disbelief. “As crazy as that sounds, it’s true. You’ll be required to prove you are 18 years or older such as by uploading your government ID for every adult content website you’d like to access.”
The new Florida law HB3 provides online protections for minors, requiring social media platforms to prohibit underage internet users from accessing harmful material.
Age-verification via government identification is one mechanism through which the law will be enacted by the Republican-led state.
The law is considered by legal experts to be broad and sweeping and is facing legal challenges.
Florida is being sued in US District Court by Free Speech Coalition, INC., Deep Connection Technologies, INC., JFF Publications, LLC, Barry Chase, Esq, and PHE INC.
That lawsuit claims that HB3 is just the newest in a wave of laws that unconstitutionally seek to ban speech and harps on the “murky definition of ‘material harmful to minors.’”
“Despite the claims of the proponents, [the law] is not the same as showing ID at a liquor store,” Alison Boden, executive director of Free Speech Coalition wrote in a statement.
“It is invasive and carries significant risk to privacy,” Boden added.
The Free Speech Coalition is a trade association for the adult entertainment industry.
The bill passed with overwhelming support in both the Florida House of Representatives and Senate back in March.
Age verification laws for smutty sites have been passed in 18 other states.
Louisiana, Utah, Mississippi, Virginia, Arkansas, Texas, Montana, North Carolina, South Carolina, Indiana, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Nebraska, Alabama, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Georgia have all also passed similar ID-requiring laws.
Pornhub ended its vulgar services in Texas earlier this year to protest age-verification laws in the Lone Star State.
The Lone Star state sued the porn site back in February, alleging the company violated state law by failing to implement age verification measures.
Earlier this year, it was revealed by the porn site that the most popular term searched for by Sunshine State horndogs was “MAGA.”
Pornhub did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.
