Patrick Mahomes’ grandfather Randy Martin is in hospice care ahead of the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Buffalo Bills AFC Championship match.
The quarterback’s mom, Randi Martin, took to her Instagram Story over the weekend to reveal the devastating news alongside a sweet snap with the patriarch.
“My dad is in a hospice and I’m lost for words,” she wrote.
Randi, 52, also wrote the bible verse Colossians 3:20, which reads, “Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.”
While the Mahomes matriarch didn’t disclose her father’s illness, she shared he was sick via X four months ago.
“Prayer warriors please pray for my daddy. He is in the hospital and is not well, ” she wrote last September.
Weeks later, she shared a photo of Randy in his hospital bed watching a Chiefs game on TV.
One of Randi’s last updates was last November when she gushed over having the “best day” visiting her dad.
“please keep him in your prayers to get stronger #blessed,” she wrote.
Patrick, 29, has yet to address his grandfather’s illness via social media, as he gears up to take on the Bills at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo., on Sunday.
The Chiefs lost their winning streak to the Bills during week 11 in November 2024.
The winner of Sunday’s big game will determine who will play at the 2025 Superbowl hosted at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Feb. 9.
The Washington Commanders and Philadelphia Eagles are also vying for a spot at the biggest NFL match of the year, and will also be competing against each other on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Patrick has had his hands full at home following the birth of his third child, Golden Raye, earlier this month.
The NFL star and his wife, Brittany Mahomes, also 29, are also the parents to their 3-year-old daughter, Sterling, and their 2-year-old son, Bronze.
