He was tracked down to a hospital in Naples yesterday, where his family say he will need to remain for several weeks before being allowed to return to the UK. After desperately searching for answers about his whereabouts for seven days, Bob’s family confirmed the 47-year-old suffered “broken bones” in an accident. They also launched a fundraiser to help cover the costs of his treatment, with £2,400 raised within a few hours for the Aberdeen FC fan. A post on the GoFundMe page read: “Our brother Bob is in hospital in Naples following an accident while on holiday. We are raising funds to support Bob, to help with any medical costs, flights, accommodation, and for family to attend the hospital to support his recovery.READ MORE: Claudia Lawrence’s mum’s agony has she hits out at police ‘holding something back’Bob attended a Napoli vs Fiorentina football match with friends in Italy(Image: dailyrecord)“At the moment, it looks likely that Bob will be in hospital for at least the next two weeks, within the orthopaedic ward, with broken bones. Any help would be very much appreciated by the family.”The update came after Bob vanished on March 10 days into his trip to Naples to watch Napoli v Fiorentina with friends. He is believed to have travelled to Pompeii on the Monday with one pal, and agreed to meet at the entrance of the historical site but failed to show up.He then becme separated and arranged to meet the rest of the group back in Naples. But again, he did not appear at the Spanish Quarter in the city. After failing to board his flight to Scotland the following day, Bob’s family made an urgent appeal. They feared the worst after he disappeared without his bank card – and with his phone turned off since Tuesday, March 11. Robert’s brother Euan told the Daily Record his family were “very worried” after discovering that he had lost his suitcase and had just 600 euros on him.In an earlier plea, Euan said: “Bob went on holiday to Italy and was due home on Tuesday. He has not returned home and nobody has heard from him since Monday. We are obviously very worried.”But the family shared their relief when they confirmed that the Scotsman had been found in hospital, thanking all those who had helped. Euan said: “We’ve found Bob!!! He’s been located at a hospital in Naples.”We don’t have any more information apart from that he’s in the orthopaedic ward and is safe! “Hopefully, we can gather more information about what’s happened in the next few hours.”From myself and all our family, I cannot thank you all enough for the shares, messages, contacts provided and all other help! The showing of love and care from everyone has been tremendous!! Thank you!”At the time of writing, Bob’s fundraiser, which will help cover medical costs, flights and accommodation to get Bob back home to Scotland, had beaten it’s £2,000 target. A total of £2,460 has so far been raised to help Bob and his family, you can find out more about his fundraiser here.
