Kyle Richards is preparing for the next steps in her separation from Mauricio Umansky after her estranged husband was photographed kissing another woman.
“I think about, ’How did we get here if we care about each other so much? How did we allow this to happen?’” Kyle, 56, said in a confessional during The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills episode that aired on Tuesday, March 11. “Everything we built. This is like the rug really being ripped out from underneath your feet. I did not expect my life to go in this direction.”
Kyle and Mauricio, 56, were forced to have an “awkward” conversation after he was photographed kissing a mystery woman in the Mykonos airport. (Multiple outlets published the photos in July 2024, one year after Kyle and Mauricio announced their separation.)
“The photos really did say to me, he’s moving on,” Kyle continued during her confessional. “You can live in this la la land for as long as you want, but that was a hammer on the head saying, ‘Hello, Kyle, he’s moved ok. It’s OK. You’re both entitled to live your lives.’”
While sitting in the kitchen of the California house they previously shared, Mauricio apologized to Kyle for the public nature of the images.
“You know that I would never want to do anything on purpose that would hurt you or hurt the kids. I really am sorry for hurting you,” he said. “I would never want to hurt you on purpose.”
Kyle responded, “I know that you would never do that on purpose. I know that you did not know your picture was being taken. I don’t know that the other person didn’t know that. But, obviously, that’s hard to see.”
Kyle explained that because she and Mauricio are separated, they are “allowed to” do what they want — especially when it comes to pursuing other romantic relationships. Still, she admitted that it was “strange” to see him with someone else.
It was then that Kyle got emotional while continuing her conversation with Mauricio.
“I don’t know what I’m supposed to do now,” she said as he gave her a hug.
“Seeing these photos, I think makes it pretty clear that this is permanent,” Kyle added in her confessional. “And I don’t think it’s going to be easy to come back from that.”
