Harris had a 10-point lead among voters aged 35-49, a 1-point advantage with voters aged 50-64 and a 4-point lead with voters 65 and over.Newsweek contacted representatives of Vice President Kamala Harris and Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential election campaign for comment via email on Tuesday outside of regular office hours.A Morning Consult poll gave Harris a 4-point lead over Trump, with the support of 48 percent of registered voters against 44 percent for the Republican nominee. The survey of 11,265 likely voters, which the pollster said was the “largest advantage for a Democratic presidential candidate over Trump in nearly a year,” took place between August 2 and 4.A survey of 3,000 registered voters conducted by RMG Research between July 29 and 31 gave Harris a 5-point lead over Trump, with the support of 47 percent of those surveyed against 42 percent.On August 5, Harris held a 2-point lead over Trump according to an analysis of recent polls conducted by polling aggregation website FiveThirtyEight, which placed her on 45.5 percent against 43.5 percent for the former president. The study found another 5.5 percent supported Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the former Democrat turned independent candidate.

The Silver Bulletin presidential election forecast, which was released on August 2, compiled polling averages from recent surveys in a number of key swing states. It found Harris led Trump in Pennsylvania by 45.3 to 44.8 percent, Wisconsin by 46 to 44.8 percent and Michigan at 45.2 versus 42.8 percent.However, Trump led in Georgia 46.3 to 44.8 percent, North Carolina 46.7 to 44.7 percent, Arizona 46.3 to 43.8 percent and Nevada 43.9 to 42.6 percent.On Monday, Reuters reported Harris had narrowed her vice presidential shortlist down to two, with the finalists being Governors Tim Walz of Minnesota and Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania. Other candidates who were reportedly under consideration included Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and Senator Mark Kelly from Arizona.In a message directed to supporters on Monday, Harris insisted she had yet to make a final decision. Providing a link where people could sign up for the announcement the Democratic nominee said: “I know many of you are eager to find out who I will be selecting to join me on the campaign trail, and hopefully in the White House, as my Vice President.”Though I have not made my decision yet, it is important to me that grassroots supporters—like you—have direct updates about the state of the race.”
