rewrite this title I’m a top travel expert — my go-to meal is this easy feast I make in my hotel room

Ah, the glamour of travel.

An accomplished globetrotter known for her takes on glam destinations had fans doing double takes with the reveal that one of her favorite meals in any country is one she makes in her hotel room.

Samantha Brown, host of Samantha Brown’s Places to Love on PBS, made the humble admission on social media with a quick video that showed her in relatively average-looking digs using a clamshell container filled with lettuce to pull together a quick but healthy dinner — one she confessed was “about as fancy-schmancy as I get these days.”

“I’ve been making my hotel room salad for years in three, four-star hotels across the United States — they’re the ones that give you the big refrigerators,” Brown told her Instagram followers.

“I head to the nearest supermarket, gather all the ingredients, hopefully organic, and then just eat a really healthy meal.”

She was inspired, she said, “by my love of supermarkets, which I visit like they’re a local attraction … as well as just wanting to stay in my room and watch trashy television.”

The jet setter’s favorite ingredients are chopped romaine, lettuce and mushrooms — with “the most non-processed dressing I can find in the refrigerated section,” she said, declaring sesame ginger as her “go-to.”

Brown previously admitted in an interview with Travel + Leisure that she likes to just “hunker down” in the many places she travels.

“A lot of times, especially when you’re out and about during the day… you don’t want to go from menu to menu or restaurant to restaurant,” she said, noting that she’s always looking for local amenities like delis, coffee shops and places to buy groceries while on the go.

While some fans were quick to question her salad style, many others were in agreement with the idea of just being at home wherever you are.

“I always visit grocery stores like you — as if they’re another attraction on my list of things to see,” one traveler said.

“Recently visited a store in Croatia and just had to laugh at the display of Oreos. Like, they are obsessed with them!”

“Last time I was in NYC I was overwhelmed how expensive restaurants were so we grabbed ingredients at Whole Foods and ate in our room! It was the best,” a budget-minded Big Apple visitor shared.

Do-it-yourself in-room dining can be common among frequent travelers, it turns out — with one creative road warrior showing off how he makes his own pizzas in hotel bathrooms.

And one travel expert even warned against using the hotel iron — which he suggested was frequently used by flight crew to reheat food during their layovers.

But that’s nothing compared to the perils of the complimentary coffee station, apparently — one flight attendant alleged that they’ve known colleagues to use the ubiquitous pots to sterilize their unmentionables while on the go.
