A family has recreated an old photo to celebrate their new grandson, the first boy born on their side in 65 years.
Shantel Stone, 27, was snapped alongside four generations of her family in 1997 as she was the latest in a long line of girls.
However, Shantel has now welcomed a baby herself — little Theo Simpson who was born on November 26.
Theo’s arrival marks a milestone for beaming grandmother Lindsey Stone as he is the first baby boy on her side of the family since her brother Kevin in 1959.
The family was photographed by local newspaper the East Anglian Daily Times when Shantel was born and they have recreated the photo with baby Theo.
Lindsey, of Earl Stonham, Suffolk, said: “I remember when the reporter came to my nana’s house in 1997.
“Amanda said, maybe we’ll have a boy next time – and then she went on to have three more girls!”
The 1997 photo shows newborn Shantel being cradled by her proud mum Amanda Lee.
Also in the photo are her beaming grandmother Lindsey, great-grandmother Joan Arbon, and great-great-grandmother Edith Manning.
Joan, Shantel’s great-grandmother, has now moved up the pecking order.
Now 91, just as her mother was in 1997, she is the matriarch of the family and a proud great-great-grandmother to Theo.
To mark Joan’s 91st birthday on Saturday her family paid her a visit at the Chilton Meadows home in Stowmarket to celebrate with their newest arrival.
Mrs Stone said: “It was lovely.
“He’s such a placid little baby, he’s so good.
“He’s very content, just like his parents.”
She explained that her sister, too, has been blessed with a grandson, meaning that Theo is also not the only boy in the family.
She added: “So, now mom’s got two – and she’s over the moon!”
