rewrite this title Disney World has changed the rules on two major attractions — and parkgoers hate it

It’s the happiest place on Earth — until you have to wake up at the crack of dawn to enjoy it.

Walt Disney World announced that two of its most popular attractions will no longer have virtual queues.

Starting Feb. 25, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in the Magic Kingdom park and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in Epcot theme park will transition to a standby line.

Disney often implements a virtual queue when a new ride opens to help control crowds, which means guests have to either pay for Lightning Lane access or get a spot in the virtual line just to get on the ride.

If you don’t want to pay extra for Lightning Lane, you’ll have to wake up at 7 a.m. to attempt to secure a spot or try again inside the park at 1 p.m.

Visitors with a spot in line will then need to wait for their designated boarding group to be called to get on the ride.

With the elimination of virtual queues, fans can now ride these attractions simply by getting in the standby line or by getting a Lightning Lane Multi Pass for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure or a Lightning Lane Single Pass for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.

This will give park guests more flexibility with their day in the park and the ability to choose when they ride, and guests will no longer risk missing out on the ride entirely.

However, both rides are extremely popular at their respective parks, so standby lines are expected to be very long.

Some Disney guests are already anticipating the headache, as one fan responded to the announcement on X, “Those wait times are gonna be insane for a long, long time.”

Another wrote, “I’d really love for someone to explain to me how removing the GOTG virtual queue, which will double if not triple wait times, is a ‘win’ for parkgoers.”

As soon as the change goes into effect, there will be no virtual queues operating at Disney World at the moment, though they might return when new attractions open.

Disney World previously had virtual queues at the Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and Tron Lightcycle / Run rides — all of which have switched to standby lines.
