PORT ST. LUCIE — Mark Vientos doesn’t have to wait for the official announcement that one of his closest friends will be on the Opening Day roster.
Already, the Mets third baseman is looking to Thursday in Houston and the thought he will be the third baseman, with Brett Baty at second.
“It’s going to be crazy,” Vientos told The Post on Thursday. “Honestly, it’s pretty cool when I see him at second base and I am playing with him. It’s been a while since we’ve done that.”
Baty has seized the opportunity presented to him this spring with Jeff McNeil sidelined by a strained oblique that will place him on the injured list to begin the season.
