The boy’s next of kin have been informed and his family are being supported.”HM Coroner has been notified and the death is not being treated as suspicious at this time,” the force said. Neath Port Talbot Council said in a statement that a school had been closed and said its thoughts are with the family of the boy while it was ready to “offer any possible assistance”. Melin Primary School (infant and junior sites) was closed on Wednesday January 29. Support will be made available to anyone affected. The school will re-open on Thursday January 30.”Acting headteacher Danielle Harris wrote a letter to parents and guardians also saying that support services will be available at the school. She wrote: “We want to inform you that Melin Primary School (infant and junior sites) will reopen tomorrow (Thursday 30th January) following a tragic incident that occurred on the school grounds in the early hours of this morning.”We understand that recent events have been distressing, and we want to assure you that the wellbeing of our students, staff and wider school community remains our top priority. Support services will be available at the school to assist anyone in need. If your child requires additional support please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this difficult time.”Many people have expressed their sadness on social media and offered their condolences to the boy’s family. “Sending love to the family at this sad time god bless you young lad,” said one person, and another replied: “So sad thinking of his family and friends sending love.”There were many similar comments on Facebook with one reading: “My hearts breaking for all of his family and friends sending huge love and strength to all, and a further said: “So so sad ,young man,deepest sympathy to all the family.”
