India is among the biggest growth opportunities for online travel platform Booking.com, driven by a rising middle class that is adapting to online booking, Laura Houldsworth, Managing Director and Vice President for APAC at Booking.com, told Skift.

While asserting the opportunity in India for outbound travel Houldsworth also spoke about the country’s inbound opportunity. “India as an inbound destination is still recovering. I think we will continue to see it recover quite quickly.”
According to Houldsworth spiritual travel that’s currently driving domestic tourism, also has the potential to boost India’s inbound travel sector.
Spiritual travel has also led to the rise in demand for alternative accommodations in India, which is one of the fastest-growing segments for Booking.
