Summarize this content to 2000 words in 6 paragraphs In the 1880s, New York’s Riverside Drive was predicted to overtake Fifth Avenue as the Big Apple’s “millionaire colony,” and by the early 1900s, the leafy street overlooking the Hudson River was lined with about 100 free-standing and rowhouse mansions. The historic Riverside Drive-West 105 Street District is cheek-to-jowl with fashionable residences, once occupied by celebrated names like jazz royal Duke Ellington and film starlet Marion Davies. Many of the neighborhood’s elegant style residences are tied to a renowned architect, and the work of distinguished architect Robert D. Kohn, who studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris in the early 1890s, is on fine display in a 10,000-square-foot Beaux-Arts mansion that’s newly on the market for $13 million. Completed in 1902 and today known as The River Mansion, the house stands five stories with five en-suite bedrooms, plus a couple of powder rooms. There’s an also a basement apartment. Its beauty and prestige made it the site of the 48th Annual New York City Kips Bay Decorator Show House.More from Robb ReportThe light-filled fireside parlor features intricate two-toned moldings.Painstakingly carved, banded columns inspired by late 16th-century French architecture and a house mark above the door are two key features of the ornamented façade, next to red brick-encased arched windows. The grand foyer invites you in with polished wood floors, veering off to a spacious parlor that features bay windows and one of the home’s seven wood-burning fireplaces. The mansion’s renovated kitchens—there are two of them—feature JennAir luxury appliances. One of the neutral-hued spaces also features backlit cabinetry and an island with breakfast bar seating. The formal dining room is adjacent to the main kitchen and showcases herringbone parquet floors, a fireplace, and outdoor access. Elsewhere are a library, media room, wine room, and wine cellar. One of the bedrooms is warmed by a fireplace with a view of the Hudson River.Upstairs, you’ll find the primary bedroom with a fireplace and calming views of the river. Its renovated, en-suite bathroom has spa-like appeal with a large soaking tub and separate stall shower. Golden sink fixtures and mirror frames illuminate the space made for relaxation. The icing on the cake at The River Mansion would have to be its rooftop terrace, which spreads out over 2,000 square feet with lounge seating, a fire pit, and dining area. Its unobstructed views of the Hudson River and George Washington Bridge are what truly make it one-of-a-kind.
