John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York LaGuardia Airport and New Jersey’s Newark Liberty International Airport all ranked in the top 10 worst airports. in the US for flight disruptions, per new data via AirHelp.
“[Our] mission is to educate passengers so that they can make informed decisions when they fly,” Tomasz Pawliszyn, the CEO of AirHelp, an online traveling resource, said in a statement. “We can help passengers better predict what their experience will look like at different airports and what they can do if their flight gets delayed, canceled or overbooked.”
The plagues are the big three upsets that no Big Apple flyer wants to face. And yet, they’re ruining trips on the regular.
JFK Airport secured the No. 4 spot on AirHelp’s list of not-so-hot hubs.
Despite recently being named America’s most “luxurious” airport, researchers found that 26.9% of JFK’s departing flights were unexpectedly postponed or nixed in February alone.
The Garden State’s Newark Airport, located mere minutes outside of Gotham’s city limits, was crowned the fifth crummiest base, owing to 26.7% of its liftoffs launching late — or not at all.
And LaGuardia landed the sixth slot on the roster with 26.5% of its ascensions being held up for one reason or another.
The Queens-based airport was also recently deemed one of the worst for “wasting passengers’ time.”
Investigators with Upgraded Points, a perks maximizing site, found that jet-setters leaving out of LaGaurdia are frequently forced to spend a maddening 23 minutes in holding patterns on the tarmac, anxiously awaiting takeoff.
The analysts attributed the abnormally long taxying time to “limited runway space, which requires more time for planes to maneuver in tighter quarters.”
Both JFK and Newark airports, too, charted high on the time-wasting roundup.
