Jaime King’s ex-husband, Kyle Newman, has accused the actress of being strung out and drunk while their children were in her custody. Newman filed a petition in Los Angeles Superior Court alleging that on October 17, their children were crying and asked him to pick them up from King. Newman found King sitting on the floor, not wearing pants, and with two men in the house. He claimed that King appeared distressed, strung out, and was acting drunk, gesturing for him to come to her but unable to stand up. The children were reportedly dressed in the same clothes they had worn to school the previous day.
Newman asked King if she had been drinking, but she did not respond. He took the children with him, and one child reported his mother’s behavior to a school therapist. In the petition, Newman requested the judge to order King to stay away from the children, asked for sole physical custody of both kids, and for King to have supervised visitation. Newman also requested that King submit to drug and alcohol testing, claiming that the children were in danger in their mother’s care due to her addiction issues and exposure to disturbing people and situations, including sexual content.
According to Newman, King has been accused of smoking in the house without opening any windows or doors while her kids are present and telling her son that the American Cancer Society website is propaganda. King also allegedly blew smoke in her son’s face and asked him to come back in her womb to cuddle with her. The children are reportedly disturbed by some of the comments their mother makes and are frightened about returning to her home. Newman stated that he wants King to get help but cannot allow their children to be in a constant state of danger and abuse as a result of her addiction issues.
Newman expressed concerns about King’s behavior, alleging that she continues to drive under the influence, has strange men show up to the house, and sends the children to sleep in the boys’ rooms. He claimed that the children are so scared that they asked to speak to the judge to avoid going back to their mother’s house. Newman believes that without strong orders, King will continue to game the system and put their children in danger. The couple filed for divorce in May 2020, and after a two-year custody battle, their divorce was finalized in September 2023.
The demands of the petition include orders for King to stay away from the children, sole physical custody for Newman, supervised visitation for King, and drug and alcohol testing for King. King’s representative did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The allegations against King include emotional abuse and neglect of the children due to her addiction issues, exposing them to various dangers and disturbing situations. Newman hopes for resolution in the best interest of the children as they navigate through this difficult situation.
