Report: Biden anxious about son Hunter potentially serving prison time in gun case

President Biden is reportedly concerned that his son, Hunter Biden, may end up in prison over his purchase of a handgun while allegedly addicted to crack cocaine. The president has confided in his closest advisers about his fears, with aides expressing their worry as Hunter’s June 3 trial approaches. It is expected that Joe Biden will closely follow media coverage of the trial and continue to check in on his son daily to offer support as the legal proceedings unfold.

Despite Joe Biden’s concerns, the White House will not be setting up a “war room” to react to events in Delaware. Hunter’s attorney, Abbe Lowell, will be responsible for defending him both in the courtroom and in the press. Hunter has pleaded not guilty to the three felony charges brought against him related to his purchase of a handgun in 2018, which include making false statements and firearm possession by an unlawful substance abuser. Efforts to dismiss the case and delay the trial start date have been unsuccessful thus far.

If convicted, Hunter could face a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison for the felonies he is charged with in relation to the gun purchase. In addition to the gun case, Hunter is also facing nine counts of tax fraud filed against him in Southern California by prosecutors. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges in that case, which is scheduled to go to trial on June 20. Despite the legal troubles facing him, Hunter maintains his innocence and will have his day in court to defend himself against the allegations brought against him by the Justice Department.

President Biden’s worries about his son’s legal troubles are said to be constant and weigh heavily on his mind. He fears the potential consequences that Hunter may face if convicted in either case, particularly the possibility of a prison sentence. The president’s concerns are shared by his advisers, who acknowledge that the situation will only become more stressful as the trial date approaches. Despite the challenges ahead, Joe Biden remains dedicated to supporting his son through the legal process and staying informed about the developments in both cases.

As Hunter’s legal battles continue to unfold, the Biden family is grappling with the public scrutiny that comes with the high-profile cases. While the White House has not established a specific strategy to address the media coverage of Hunter’s trials, it is likely that the president will be monitoring the situation closely and staying in touch with his son regularly. With both trials set to begin in June, the Biden family will be navigating a challenging period as they confront the legal challenges facing Hunter and the impact it may have on the president and his administration.
