Rebecca Lobo, WNBA legend, hails Caitlin Clark as the ‘top passer in the league’

Rebecca Lobo, a Hall of Famer and basketball analyst, praises rookie Caitlin Clark as the best passer in the WNBA. Despite her reputation for hitting long-range shots, Clark’s court vision and passing skills have been the talk of the league since her days at Iowa. She is currently leading the league with 8.2 assists per game, although her turnover rate of 5.6 is also notable due to the risks she takes with her passes.

In a recent game before the All-Star/Olympic break, Clark set a new WNBA record with 19 assists, showcasing her ability to find teammates with pinpoint passes. She has recorded double-digit assists in seven of her last nine games, and showed off her skills during the All-Star Game with a game-high 10 assists. Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese, who played alongside Clark in the game, described the experience as “cool” and praised Clark’s passing ability.

Despite her turnover rate, Lobo believes that Clark’s other skills will continue to improve as she gains more experience in the WNBA. Her shooting from beyond the arc has not been as consistent as in college, currently standing at 32.7% from three-point range. However, she is shooting 40.5% from the field overall and averaging 19.6 points per game, showing her ability to adapt and contribute in multiple ways on the court.

Clark’s passing prowess has been particularly impressive to her peers and fans, with her precision and willingness to take risks standing out in a league filled with talented players. As she continues to adjust to the pace and demands of the WNBA, it is likely that her turnover rate will decrease while her overall game continues to develop. Lobo believes that Clark’s potential is still untapped and that she will only improve as she becomes more comfortable at the professional level.

Overall, Caitlin Clark has made a significant impact in her rookie season with the Indiana Fever, earning praise for her passing ability and willingness to take risks on the court. While her turnovers have been a point of concern, her record-setting performances and ability to facilitate scoring opportunities for her teammates have solidified her place as one of the league’s rising stars. As she continues to refine her game and adjust to the competition in the WNBA, Clark is poised to become even more dominant and leave a lasting legacy in the league.
