Hoda Kotb made a shocking announcement that she would be leaving the “Today” show on NBC after 26 years. Kotb, who recently turned 60, tearfully shared her decision with her co-hosts Savannah Guthrie, Jenna Bush Hager, Al Roker, Sheinelle Jones, and Craig Melvin. She expressed that turning 60 made her reflect on her future and realize that it was time for her to try something new at this point in her life.

Following Kotb’s emotional announcement, her co-hosts expressed their love and support for her. Savannah Guthrie, who co-anchors the first two hours of the show with Kotb, commended her friend for having the guts to leave at the top of her game and pursue bigger dreams. Guthrie, along with Bush Hager and Roker, shared heartfelt messages for Kotb and reassured her of their friendship and support as she embarks on this new chapter in her life.

Amidst the tears and emotional atmosphere, Jenna Bush Hager brought some humor into the conversation by jokingly mentioning that she would be showing up at Kotb’s house like a stalker. The co-hosts, including Sheinelle Jones, emphasized that they are a family and that Kotb has had a significant impact on all of their lives. They expressed their admiration for Kotb’s character, work ethic, and vision for her future endeavors.

Kotb’s decision to leave the show was met with surprise and sadness from fans and colleagues alike. She revealed that the reason for her departure was to have more time with her two daughters, Haley and Hope, whom she recently moved to the suburbs with. Despite leaving the “Today” show, Kotb mentioned that she would still be part of the NBC family in some capacity. As the news of her departure settled in, her co-hosts and viewers expressed their excitement for her, knowing that she would continue to make a positive impact in whatever she pursues next.

Hoda Kotb’s career at NBC began in 1998, working as a correspondent for various news platforms. She later joined the fourth hour of the “Today With Hoda and Kathie Lee” show in 2008, alongside Kathie Lee Gifford. When Gifford departed from the show in 2018, Bush Hager replaced her, leading to the creation of “Today With Hoda and Jenna.” In 2018, Kotb officially became the co-anchor of the “Today” show alongside Savannah Guthrie, following Matt Lauer’s departure due to allegations of misconduct.

As Kotb prepares to say goodbye to the “Today” show, her colleagues and viewers are filled with mixed emotions. While they are sad to see her leave, they are excited for the new opportunities that lie ahead for Kotb. Her dedication to her family and her desire to explore new ventures demonstrate her courage and resilience in embracing change and growth. As she transitions to this next phase of her life, Kotb’s legacy as a beloved co-host and respected journalist will continue to inspire many.
