In Urfa, a district in Turkey, the municipality announced that a stray dog in the Batıkent neighborhood had bitten a person and tested positive for rabies. The area has been declared a quarantine zone, and all stray animals have been taken to rehabilitation centers for monitoring and treatment. Once the quarantine period is over, spaying and rehabilitation processes will begin. The Şanlıurfa Animal Rehabilitation Center is open for visits to those concerned about the animals’ welfare.

A similar incident occurred in the Payamlı neighborhood where another stray dog attacked a 16-year-old boy named Ufuk Kılıç, who was also found to have rabies. A quarantine was set up in the area with warning signs posted to indicate the risk of rabies. The local authorities have been in discussions regarding the collection, rehabilitation, and treatment of stray animals in the city.

The issue of two stray dogs in the Eyyübiye district testing positive for rabies and attacking citizens was also raised in the meeting. The authorities are closely monitoring both cases and ensuring that the affected individuals receive timely medical treatment. The Governor has instructed all relevant government agencies and municipalities to work together to vaccinate street animals against rabies to prevent further cases.

A statement from the Governor’s office confirmed that four people had been bitten by infected stray dogs in the Payamlı and Batıkent neighborhoods. The dogs have been contained and isolated, while the bite victims have started their treatment without delay. The local authorities, including the municipality and health departments, have conducted necessary actions to address the situation.

The municipal authorities are closely monitoring the situation regarding stray animals and rabies cases, taking all possible measures to prevent the spread of the disease. The welfare and health of the animals in the affected areas are being prioritized, with a focus on rehabilitation and spaying to control the stray population and prevent future incidents of rabies. The collaborative efforts of the government agencies and municipalities aim to ensure the safety of both residents and animals in the region.

Overall, the recent outbreak of rabies among stray dogs in Şanlıurfa has prompted swift action from the local authorities to protect both residents and animals. The quarantine measures and rehabilitation efforts in place are crucial in preventing the further spread of the disease and ensuring the well-being of all individuals involved. The community is urged to remain vigilant and report any incidents involving stray animals to the relevant authorities for immediate action.
