Despite a rather boring final match, PSG Women managed to defeat Fleury 1-0 to win their third trophy in the last 4 years. The victory was not easy for PSG, as Fleury focused primarily on defense and PSG had just come out of a grueling double opposition against Olympique Lyonnais in the Champions League semi-final. Lieke Martens played a key role in securing the victory for PSG with a crucial cross that resulted in the only goal of the match. The Parisiennes managed to hold onto their lead and secure the victory, showcasing their consistent performance at the highest level in women’s soccer in France.

Following their victory in the Coupe de France final, PSG will now turn their attention to the D1 Arkéma playoffs. They are set to face Paris FC in the semi-final on May 11th and are currently assured of finishing second in the league. Fleury, on the other hand, must secure their fourth position to advance to the semi-final against league leaders OL. Both teams have one more match in the regular season to determine their final standing before heading into the playoffs.

In an interview following the match, Charlotte Fernandes expressed her disappointment at missing out on opportunities to win the final. Despite PSG not being particularly dangerous, Fleury was unable to capitalize on their chances and was unable to equalize. Grace Geyoro, captain of PSG, acknowledged the difficult conditions of the match, with the heat impacting the players’ performance. She also joked about whether she touched the ball in the crucial goal-scoring moment, indicating that she may have bothered the goalkeeper instead.

The starting elevens for the final match included key players for both teams such as Martens for PSG and Fernandes for Fleury. The match was closely contested, with opportunities for both teams to score, but ultimately it was PSG who emerged victorious. The fans present at the stadium in Montpellier witnessed a hard-fought battle between the two teams, with PSG managing to secure the trophy in the end. PSG’s consistency at the highest level in French women’s soccer was evident throughout the match, showcasing their dominance in the league.
