Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently visited Lagos, Nigeria, to support mental health initiatives for soldiers. During their three-day trip, the royal couple attended a fundraiser for Nigeria’s soldiers wounded in battles against Islamic extremists in the north. They also visited Giants of Africa, a local charity that empowers youth through basketball. The couple was warmly welcomed in Lagos, where they witnessed traditional Nigerian fashion and dances, and were impressed by the acrobatic skills of local dancers.

The visit to Giants of Africa was particularly meaningful for Harry and Meghan, who unveiled a partnership between the organization and their Archewell Foundation. Harry expressed his admiration for the organization’s work, highlighting the power of sports in bringing people together and creating a sense of community. Masai Ujiri, the charity’s president and former NBA star, acknowledged the couple’s dedication in supporting causes like Giants of Africa, despite being away from their own children. The partnership between the organization and Archewell Foundation aims to empower more young people through sports.

During their visit, the couple also attended a fundraiser for Nigeria’s wounded soldiers, which was related to Harry’s Invictus Games. Nigeria is seeking to host the Invictus Games in the future, and the event highlighted the importance of supporting soldiers who have been injured in the line of duty. The couple’s presence at the fundraiser further showcased their commitment to advocating for mental health issues and supporting those who have served in the military. Meghan also received a handwoven Nigerian fabric as a token of appreciation from the Lagos State Government House.

Overall, the trip to Nigeria was a successful and meaningful experience for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. They had the opportunity to witness the vibrant culture of Lagos, engage with local charities that support youth empowerment, and show their support for soldiers who have been wounded in combat. The couple’s visit was well-received by the Nigerian people, and they were invited to return to the country whenever they wished. The trip was a testament to Harry and Meghan’s ongoing dedication to philanthropic work and advocacy for mental health issues.
