Security measures have been tightened around Taksim Square by the Istanbul Police Department. Streets leading to Taksim Cumhuriyet Monument and the Square have been closed off with iron barriers, and checkpoints have been set up at some entrances to prevent civilian access to the square. Along with this, all streets opening onto Istiklal Avenue from Taksim to Tünel have been closed off with iron barriers, with police officers stationed at each street corner. Only local business owners and tourists are allowed access to Istiklal Avenue.
Additionally, traffic officers are on standby at all roads and intersections leading to Taksim. Metro stations between Vezneciler and Gayrettepe were closed starting at 5:30 am. The M2 Yenikapı – Seyrantepe – Hacıosman Metro Line stations at Vezneciler, Haliç, Taksim Square, Şişhane, Osmanbey, Mecidiyeköy, and Gayrettepe Zincirlikuyu have been shut down. Annoncements at the metro stations inform passengers about which stations will be operational or closed.
Funicular services between Kabataş-Taksim Square and Tünel Square-Karaköy, as well as the Nostalgic Tramway on Istiklal Avenue, have also been suspended. Additionally, bus stops at Taksim, Tarlabaşı, Ömer Hayyam, and Tepebaşı operated by İETT have been closed in both Şişli and Fatih directions. Firefighter and ambulance teams are on standby at Taksim Square. Furthermore, some streets in Mecidiyeköy and its surroundings leading to Taksim have been closed off as part of security measures.
In Saraçhane, strict security measures have been implemented. Roads surrounding Saraçhane have been closed to traffic, with vehicles being redirected by traffic police to alternative routes. Police officers conduct body searches at the entrances to Saraçhane Square, and selected individuals are allowed entry after the search. Riot control vehicles and TOMAs have been stationed in the square. In the Unkapanı direction, riot police and TOMAs have been placed under the Bozdoğan Kemeri bridge, and entry in that direction is restricted.
At Beşiktaş, barriers have been placed at points where pedestrians can cross from Galata Bridge to Karaköy exit. Police officers allow controlled passage for pedestrians and vehicles, with only locals and tourists permitted to cross towards Karaköy. The Bomonti-Dolmabahçe Tunnel has been closed to all but authorized personnel. Dolmabahçe Avenue and routes leading to Taksim have been sealed with iron barriers, allowing only residents, workers, and tourists to pass. As a result of the security measures taken, Dolmabahçe Avenue, typically one of the busiest spots in the city, remains deserted.
Ferry and motorboat services for crossing from the Anatolian side to the European side have been cancelled, leading to passengers leaving the docks at the instructions of officials. With metrobus stations such as Zincirlikuyu, Mecidiyeköy, and Çağlayan closed, passengers wishing to reach these areas must now alight at the nearest Okmeydanı stop and walk along the D-100 highway to reach their destinations.
