A tragic incident occurred in the Esenler district on August 19, where a car crashed into the vehicles conducting traffic checks on Mehmet Akif Inan Street in the Oruçreis neighborhood. As a result of the accident, police officer Mustafa Peksoy, who was on duty at the Traffic Control Bureau of Esenler District Police Department, was severely injured.
Peksoy was immediately taken to the hospital by health officials, but despite all efforts, he tragically passed away today. An investigation into the accident is currently ongoing to determine the circumstances and causes of the incident.
The Istanbul Governor’s Office released a statement regarding the incident, confirming that the car driven by M.F.Y. collided with the traffic officers during the check, causing the accident due to excessive speed. In the official statement, it was announced that a ceremony in honor of the late police officer Peksoy will be held tomorrow at 10:00 am at the Istanbul Police Headquarters in Vatan.
