Caring for houseplants can be a simple way to bring life and vibrancy to a space, but it can also be easy to accidentally kill them if you don’t know what you’re doing. To help beginners and experienced plant owners alike, experts Rebecca Sterling and Puneet Sabharwal shared their recommendations for the hardest houseplants to kill. These plants are resilient, forgiving, and adapt well to different conditions, making them ideal for those who struggle with plant care. Some of the recommended plants include the ZZ plant, parlor palms, Monstera plants, Hoyas, Aglaonema Siam Pink plants, Pothos, snake plants, baby rubber plants, and heart-leaf philodendrons.

The ZZ plant is known for its low maintenance and tolerance to neglect, making it an easy plant to care for even for beginners. Parlor palms are forgiving plants that appreciate humidity, making them a great choice for those who struggle to keep plants alive. Monstera plants are resilient due to their ability to adapt to different conditions, while Hoyas can last for decades and add an elegant touch to any space. Aglaonema Siam Pink plants are hard to kill and can tolerate low-light environments, making them a versatile option for different settings. Pothos plants are great for cleaning the air in your home and are known for their resilience and ability to thrive in variety of conditions.

Snake plants are drought-tolerant and can do well in both low-light and direct sunlight, making them a versatile and hardy houseplant. Baby rubber plants have semisucculent properties, allowing them to store moisture and survive periods of neglect. Heart-leaf philodendrons, such as the Brazil, have vibrant leaves and can grow long vines, making them a popular choice for hanging or training on trellises. Additionally, the experts highlight the importance of avoiding overwatering, as it is the number one cause of plant death. They recommend using pots with drainage, self-watering systems, and ensuring plants receive adequate light to thrive.

Overall, caring for houseplants can be a rewarding experience, especially when you choose resilient and forgiving plants that are hard to kill. By following expert tips and recommendations, even those with a history of killing plants can successfully care for and enjoy the beauty of houseplants. With a little knowledge and the right plant selection, anyone can create a thriving indoor garden that adds life and ambiance to their space. Remember to avoid overwatering, provide adequate light, and choose plants that are well-suited to your environment and care abilities.
