Phil Lesh, the founding member and bassist of the iconic band Grateful Dead, passed away at the age of 84. Born in Berkeley, California, Lesh began his musical career playing the violin before switching to the trumpet and eventually becoming a bassist. He met Jerry Garcia in 1959 and joined The Warlocks before the band transformed into the Grateful Dead, blending various genres to create a unique sound.
