A fire broke out in a single-story house on Izmit Street in the Arslanbey neighborhood, with S.Y. starting the fire while his 75-year-old mother K.Y. was inside for unknown reasons. The flames spread to a neighboring single-story house as well.
Police, health, and fire department teams were dispatched to the area upon notification from the locals.
The woman trapped in the fire was rescued with the help of neighbors.
After an hour of effort by the fire department teams, the fire was extinguished, but both houses were left uninhabitable.
S.Y., who was determined to be intoxicated by the teams, was taken into custody.
During the extinguishing efforts, the fire department teams removed the Turkish flag from the wall of the house and placed it in a safe location to protect it.
